SCHOOL DAYS

What do you Remember?

I went to school 1974 - 1986 , Let me see first things first would have to be school holidays.

(that was very important when we were kids)
There were 3 terms a year and had 3 lots of major holidays.
Christmas (6 weeks)
end of Term 1 (2 weeks)
end of Term 2 (2 weeks)
end of term 3 was xmas holidays
A few public holidays plus easter and the occational Curricum day.

Punishment - Detention after school
(phew no straps and rulers in my days thank goodness)
My sisters and brother would have had a sore backside but not me ...hehehe

Normal subjects - English, Maths, Geography, History, Libarary, Woodworks, Art.

Reports were easy to read with a simple A B C D E and F

The Fun musicals, school dances and Camps. Looked forward to Clean up days so can come to school out-of-uniform.

Yep the good old days our parents told us, but we knew better couldnt wait to see the back of school. (how wrong were we)

All those things we swore as kids we wouldn't do to our children, I have used all that plus some on my kids..LOL

Hi Joanne ~~ Nice to see a new post from you. Things sure have changed, haven't they? We were always told schooldays were the best years of our lives, but none of us believed them.
We found out too late, they were right. Lots of work and worry after that. Take care, Love, Merle.

    she has surfaced!!!

I went to school with the A,B,C etc. and things were very simple.

My daughters, in grade school they got surpasses requirements, meets requirements, and needs improvement.. or something like that.

I believe in high school that were introduced to the A,B,C method however.

Our best and most cohesive friendships are created in those years.

Hi LJ, it is nice to be hearing from you. You are getting to be an expert on school things. Probably you could write a book about how to navigate the kids through school.
I taught (college) for the last 22 years of my working life. The best parts of school I rediscovered were summers and holidays. The kids were almost equal joy with my time off.

I went to school from 1970 to 1982, so my experiences were much the same as yours.
My daughter just started high school, and they are going back to the A, B, C report writing system, although it is still very different ... C being the average, and kids have to be exceptional students to get an A or B ... well above their class level.
I believe that our school days were the best days ... but try telling kids today that ... they'll think we're mad. They'll learn, as we did !!
    Take care, Meow

    Hi JO,
I no longer try and look at the grades/marks they get, I just go by the comments. It is all too hard.
